Testing will begin at 8:15 am on Thursday, March 18, and it is imperative that your child be on time every morning. Also, your child must have two # 2 pencils to use during the tests. Please see that your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a good breakfast prior to coming to school each test day.
Father-Daughter Dance
The 5th annual Father-Daughter Dance will be Tuesday, March 23 at the NCO Club at Fort Jackson from 6:30 – 8:30. This is always a special night for dads and daughters. If Dad is not available, an uncle or friend will be just as special. Please return the bottom portion of the pink form attached to this newsletter. Remember to have your driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance to get onto Fort Jackson. Proper ID is required!
Re-Enrollment Reminder
Don’t forget that applications for the 2010-2011 school year are due by March 10th.
Family Guild Building Fund
We are officially kicking off the drive for a new multi-purpose building addition to Timmerman School. There is a definite need for indoor physical education programs, art and science instruction and displays, and an array of other functions and needs. Together we can make this building a reality. Every student from 3K-8th will benefit from this. Family Guild has raised $52,917.06 to date. We need to tap into all available resources. All donations are tax deductible as the Timmerman Family Guild has 501 (c) 3 status. Let’s get to work!
Spelling Team State Champs
Three in a Row!
Congratulations to the Timmerman Spelling Team for bringing home a state title for the third year in a row! Mr. Larry Watt, Executive Director of SCISA, made the presentation during an assembly. He told our students that this win was unprecedented in the history of SCISA. This dedicated group of spellers consisted of Ainsley Gossett, Neal Weaver and Nithin Saravanapandian (3rd Grade) , Cara Lawson and Flinn Christian (4th Grade), Jonathan Lovett and Hareem Mahmood (5th Grade), Hannan Mahmood and Evan Phillips (6th grade), Eboni Belton and Owen Withycombe (7th grade), Himabindu Vinnakota and Miriam Harrell (8th grade), Flinn, Evan, Eboni, Owen, Himabindu, and Miriam represented us in the state competition. We are extremely proud of all our spellers! Our team is sponsored by Mrs. Liz Jordan.
Digital Cameras Needed
If you have a digital camera that you could donate, we are trying to get a camera in each classroom so we can keep the web site updated with the most recent events and pictures. You will soon notice a new look on the Timmerman School web site.
Quiz Bowl Team 4th in State
The Timmerman Middle School Quiz Bowl Team, sponsored by Mr. Tom Fedricci, finished 4th in the state at a recent competition in Orangeburg. At the state championships, our team went head-to-head with Cardinal Newman and defeated them 255 to 125 to knock the Cardinals out of the competition. Also, it is important to note that there are over 100 schools in the South Carolina Independent School Association. Our team was named regional champions by defeating Wilson Hall earlier in February 150 - 110. Members of this outstanding quiz bowl team are Himabindu Vinnakota (captain), Max Ciarlone, Miriam Harrell, Arslan Valimohamed, Jackson Gossett, and Haseeb Mahmood. Congratulations on a great year!
Chili Cook-Off Results
The King of Chili is sixth grader Jada Craft-Hudgins! Her classic chili, made from a secret family recipe, was mild, yet spicy and loaded with beef and vegetables. She took home the championship trophy over fifteen other competitors featuring a wide variety of chili recipes including chicken chili. Second place went to Brandon Elkins. Approximately 100 chili lovers attended this very successful event and a good time was had by all. “Thank you” to Mr. Eric Leon of Eric’s San Jose’ on Garner’s Ferry Road who donated chips. Also, we want to thank Mr. John Williams for his delicious corn muffins and Mrs. Elkins for her “to die for” cornbread. Also, we would like to thank Mr. Robbie Braciszewski and our Student Council for organizing and sponsoring this Family Guild event.
Haiti Fundraiser Results
Two Timmerman students took it upon themselves to help the earthquake victims of Haiti. Aiya Al-Mogaber and Taylor Smith sponsored a fundraiser raffle that netted $601.80 to help individuals who had to have limbs amputated. We appreciate the unselfish efforts of our two fine students who put the needs of others above themselves. Also, we appreciated all of the members of the Timmerman community who participated in this raffle. The winner of the raffle was Jack Rentiers who is in Mrs. Sorrell’s 1st grade class.
Spring Ballet Performances
The Timmerman Youth Ballet will present Carnival of the Animals and Peter and the Wolf the weekend of April 30 – May 2. Children of all ages will love these performances. Please support our youth ballet.

Kyra Ostrovsky, a 6th grader, was recently accepted into the South Carolina Aquarium Shadow Program in Charleston, South Carolina. She was one of nine chosen in the state to participate. National Barrel Horse Association
Congratulations to Briar Gates, K-5 Mrs. Jones’ room, for being voted “Most Improved Rider” at the 2009 NBHA Awards Dinner. The NBHA is the largest barrel racing association in the world. This was Briar’s first year of competition, and he competed against ages 18 and under! Briar has been consistent enough this season to qualify for the Youth/Teen World Championship in Jackson, Mississippi in July of 2010. Briar now sports around with his big, shiny belt buckle. What a cowboy! Gotta love those horses, Briar!
